Summary
This book is a reference to aid the Congolese people. Until the present generation, every Congolese has been able to gain a sense of identity from the place of his or her family's origin and the larger family that shares that origin. The large scale movement from villages to the cities and spotty enforcement of civil registry means this attachment may be lost. This book contains an alphabetical list of all birthplaces recorded on the voter lists for voters born in 1950 or ealier and registered to vote in (2006) together with their place and year of birth. It is not comprehensive, but does contain more than 250,000 Congolese names from 32 districts (from the foreword).
