Summary
"Engelhardt Riemenschneider (1815-99) was one of the founding fathers of German Methodism in America. He served as a circuit rider and then as a pastor of various churches in the Ohio Valley, including the mother church of German Methodism, present-day Nast Community United Methodist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio's Over-the-Rhine district. He later served as a German Methodist missionary in Germany and Switzerland, where he established Methodist congregations. He returned to Ohio where he not only preached but also wrote for the German Methodist press. His autobiography in German appeared in 1882. Its contents comprised his immigration experience and life on both sides of the Atlantic. This English-language publication includes a new introduction, chronology, and illustrations. It coincides with the 200th anniversary of Riemenschneider's birth in 1815."--Publisher's description
