Summary
In early 1900s New York, former heavyweight champion Roy 'Slag' McGurk considers himself the 'King of the Bowery.' The truth is Slag is hired muscle for saloonkeeper Mike Glenson. He can't dodge a pair of sucker punches from his former boxing protege Johnny Burden and orphaned English lad Nipper. As Slag tries to help Johnny romance Mike's daughter, Johnny encourages Slag to turn over a new leaf. It must happen quickly, though, because Child Services threatens to separate Slag and Nipper
