Summary
The life of a child born on the border is not easy, but Güero knows how to cope: writing poems. Güero is twelve years old and he is Mexican and American at the same time. He knows how to feel at home on both sides of the river, and there is both Spanish and English in his life. Güero has started his seventh year at school, and his English teacher makes even the poems sound cool. Güero is what they call boys like him: pale. But make no mistake, our red-haired and freckled hero is pure Mexican, like Canelo Álvarez. In addition, Güero is a nerdy reader, gamer, musician who hangs out with a band of misfits like him: Los Bobbys. Like all boys their age, The Bobbys get in trouble and they even like girls! But hey, watch out for Joanna! It is tough like no other. Hand in hand with family traditions, his accordion and his squad of nerds, Güero faces the seventh school year with intelligence and a big heart
