Summary
On the evening of Jan. 30, 1945, the German luxury liner, the Wilhelm Gustloff, set sail with more than 6000 German refugees aboard. 9 hours later, 3 torpedos fired from a Russian submarine caused the ship to sink in less than an hour into the cold Baltic Sea waters, taking all but 996 of the passengers with her. The sinking marked the worst maritime disaster in history. Experts use 21st century technology to reconstruct the disaster. Includes personal narrative by 5 survivors of the disaster
