Summary
The George J Fix Jr. Collection is divided into three sections. The first section is personal and family related material. The series contains family scrapbooks and photo albums. Also various certificates and diplomas earned by George J Fix Jr. are in this section. George J Fix Jr kept letters, books, and articles written by his friend, George McGhee, U.S. Ambassador to Turkey under Truman and West Germany under Kennedy. Books that came with the George J Fix Jr. collection have been withdrawn and added into Texas/Dallas holdings. A list of books can be found in the accession file. The second section is his company papers for the George J Fix Co, Burgess Industries and Bueno Corp. The papers include business reports, annual statements, correspondence, clippings and acquisition information relating to the purchase of George J Fix Co by Burgess Manning. The Bueno Corp documents contain information on buildings and property owned by the corporation throughtout the state of Texas. The last section deals with George J Fix Jr.'s civic interest. Mr. Fix was active in the Dallas Rotary Club; he was elected president in 1958. George J Fix Jr. also sat on the board of Presbyterian Hospital during the 1980s, and was involved in the abortion debate which took place in Dallas. George J Fix was an active Alumnus of Texas A&M, and was a member of several committees serving the School of Engineering
